Erica is 3’11” tall and weighs 26 kilos, which is around 57 pounds. She comes from a very poor family. Her father earns some money for the family by doing various jobs and earns an average of $5 a week. Her mother stays at home and does not bring in an income for the family. Her typical meal is banku. Banku is fermented corn dough and is often used in soups and stews. They live in a small home where the walls are made from mud and the roof is a made up from leaves that leak onto the dirt floor when it rains. They do their cooking with firewood. The do not have running water or electricity. They collect water from the stream and use it for cooking, drinking and cleaning. At night they use kerosene lamps to see.
